DIN 84 M8 × 40 is a cheese head screw with a 40 mm nominal length, on a M8 × 1 mm metric thread. A cylindrical head with a straight slot drive. Still common in instrument and electrical work, though pozidriv and hexalobular drives have largely replaced it in volume assembly.
